Family Resort in Goa

Family-Friendly Goa

Goa’s reputation as a family-friendly destination has grown in recent years, with more Goa resorts catering to parents with little ones, safer food and water, and plenty of fun activities both on and off the beach. Miles of golden sand and gentle sea make Goa beaches the perfect playground, but elephant rides, boat trips and colourful markets are never far away if the kids tire of building sandcastles!

The state of offers winter sun with less long-haul travel than Thailand or east Asia, and the increasing numbers of foreign families settling in Goa has fast-tracked lots of facilities that tourists can also enjoy. From family resort in Goa, kindergartens open to visiting kids alongside their ex-pat peers to babysitting services, parents can have some ‘alone time’ on holiday and the occasional night off.

So, with a bit of planning and a few basic precautions (vaccinations before travelling, and bottled water, sunscreen and mossie spray once there), a holiday in Goa is becoming a firm favourite for families.

South Goa for Families

The beaches of south Goa are more pristine and peaceful than their northern neighbours, making them ideal for families seeking safety and some peace and quiet. South Goa resorts are quickly catching up with demand, with many now offering family rooms, communal chillout areas, kids menus and beach kits - buckets and spades for the little ones to kayaks and boogie boards for older children.

Canacona region in south Goa is a particular family favourite, with a large community of ex-pat parents who have established services including schools, babysitting and paediatric healthcare, which are available to long and short stay kids alike.

Local travel company KOKOindia offers a family kit, with everything from car seats to cuddly toys, to help make travel with young children stress free and suitcase light!

With the beach on your doorstep and just enough local adventures for kids big and small - think jungle safaris and dolphin spotting trips - south Goa is shaping up as a fantastic spot for a fun family holiday.

Patnem beach with the family

Peaceful pretty Patnem is a popular Goa family beach holiday destination, with clean golden sand, safe bathing, an international kindegarten, and a warm welcome for parents.

A trio of resorts in the middle of the beach tick all the ‘family-friendly’ boxes.

Salida Del Sol offers spacious sea-view family huts where parents can watch the kids on the beach from their balcony. The resort has fun helpful staff, kiddie friendly food, and colourful chillout booths that often double as impromptu creches for play dates.

Neighbouring April 20 Resort has well-furnished family rooms featuring two double beds, and a large comfortable sea facing restaurant ideal for extended family groups. Plus the comfiest sunloungers on the beach, tailor made for sampling one of their famous sunset cocktails whilst the kids comb the beach for shells and chase crabs.

And HOME resort has great selection of accommodation, including double roomed flats in the Big House, a huge garden with chillout circle and hammocks, and a relaxed kid-friendly vibe. It’s the only places on the beach serving ‘Home-made’ cake and pudding specials - getting the thumbs up from children and parents alike!

Palolem Beach with kids

Picture-perfect Palolem is the busiest beach in the area, with a great selection of restaurants and nightlife, but not the most obvious choice for families, especially during peak season. However, those in the know head for the pockets of peace away from main action.

Cafe Blue is situated on the tranquil north side of the beach, with spacious sea view huts, hot water and air-con. Its palm-shaded beachfront area with bean bags and long tables is perfect for playing when the beach becomes too hot, and the super friendly staff and breakfast pancakes deserve a special mention!

The calm shallow sea at the north end of Palolem beach is ideal for little ones still in water wings, leading into a lagoon where you can take a charming bird-watching boat trip. Older children will love the water sports available, whether paddling a kayak out to ‘Monkey Island’ or catching that night’s supper on a fishing trip.

At the peaceful south side of Palolem, Abel Cressida resort offers family size accommodation in a pair of cottages with double attached bathrooms and large balconies opening out to its lush tropical garden.

Just a bit further south, in a secluded little bay, Green Park is ideal for young families, with a ‘private beach’ feel. All of its spacious comfortable beach huts are just steps from the sea and feature large private balconies - perfect for watching the little ones play in the sheltered waves and the spectacular sunsets across Palolem beach.

Agonda Beach and your Family

Recently voted second best beach in India and Top 3 Beach in Asia, Agonda is a very popular destination for parents, with a laid back atmosphere, 3-km of pristine white-sand coastline and very family orientated accommodation. With none of the notorious Goan nightlife it has a deserved reputation as the beach to get away from it all, with a selection of resorts helping you do just that!

The southern end of Agonda beach has calmer seas for more child-friendly swimming, and is the location of Cuba Agonda. Featuring huge beachfront bungalows, the resort is ideal family accommodation, boasting a private beach area with sunbeds, beanbags and showers, whilst the rooms offer air con and even bath tubs.

Neighbouring Dunhill Resort has a selection of modern luxury rooms in its courtyard behind the beach. Chic, spacious and full of light, they are a cut above most Agonda beach accommodation, for families who want a barefoot beach holiday but don’t want to compromise on style and comfort! The beachfront restaurant comes highly recommended

Even further south, Shanti Village offers luxury private cabanas right on the beach, with extra large beds that would suit parents with little ones. The spacious rooms, open-roofed bathrooms and big balconies with comfortable day beds mean there’s very little need to move, except for the occasional dip in the ocean. Meals can also be delivered to the rooms from the restaurant behind, all in all making Shanti Village a perfect option for parents who just want to relax and enjoy the magnificent sea views whilst the kids play in the sand.
